Wings, by joan tower

The multimedia production for Joan Tower’s Wings (for solo clarinet) premiered in 2021 as the first concert work to use Marionette Live Video Accompaniment. The animation flexibly follows the live musician, maintaining the intended choreography between sound and image. Since its multimedia premiere at the Yale School of Music, the piece has been performed at venues around the world, including the Oxford University, the Yale Center for Collaborative Arts and Media, and Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. While each performance is uniquely shaped by the live interpretation, Marionette LVA ensures that the synchronization between music and animation remains intact every time.
